Dish alignment and installation can be a challenging task, especially if you lack experience in this area. That is why I am introducing this application that simplifies the process and allows you to install and align your antenna without the need to hire a specialist.

SatCatcher is a satellite finder and dish pointer that enables you to orient your antenna towards any satellite. Using augmented reality, this application displays the target satellite in space, helping you choose the optimal location for your antenna and ensuring there are no obstacles such as walls or trees.

In addition, SatCatcher utilizes your phone's GPS to show your location on a map and indicates the direction of the satellite from your position. The compass, accompanied by a beep, assists in orienting your antenna by following the acceleration of beeps or the arrow of the compass. The accelerometer is used to verify that the holder of your antenna is vertical.

The antenna adjustment steps include:

1. Choose a satellite and authorize geolocation to determine the direction of the antenna orientation.
2. Show the satellite in augmented reality using your camera, ensuring no obstacles are present, and confirm the location of your antenna.
3. Check that the support of your antenna is vertical.
4. Calculate the polarization and adjust the rotation of the LNB (the head of your antenna).
5. Set the elevation.
6. Search for orientation with visual and sound assistance.
7. Perform fine adjustments.

For optimal functionality, SatCatcher requires access to your smartphone's camera, compass, gyroscope, accelerometer, and GPS.

Here are some helpful tips:

• If your smartphone does not have GPS, you can manually adjust the "marker" on the map until it accurately points to your location. Utilize the zoom feature for more precise detail.
• The compass is crucial for dish adjustment. However, if your smartphone does not have a built-in compass, you can still use the application. It will help you find cues and landmarks on the map based on your location and calculate the orientation. Then, you can use a manual compass for accurate alignment.
• Consider recalibrating the compass if necessary and avoid placing your smartphone too close to the antenna arm, as it may be sensitive to metallic elements. Try to position your smartphone in an area with minimal magnetic interference.
